Homemade Slow Cooker Applesauce

After our apple picking adventure I had lots and lots of apples to use up. My husband kept asking me “are you making applesauce today?” and “When are you making applesauce?” (subtle, right?). It’s really simple, I love simple. You really can’t mess this up and in the end you have delicious, homemade, exactly how you like it applesauce. You will need Apples, enough to fill your slow cooker. You can use up to three different kinds or just one kind. We, of course, used Honeycrisp, only Honeycrisp. I fill mine til nearly busting because as they cook they will shrink and by the end will be well under the lip of the slow cooker. 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup white sugar 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup water Preparation -This is very easy Wash ’em Peel ’em Core ’em Chop ’em Place into the slow cooker and put sugars, cinnamon, vanilla, and water on top. No need to stir ’em. Set to low for 6 to 8 hours and forget ’em.       When you’re able to stir them up with a spoon and they just disintegrate then they’re done. Taste some to see if you need to add more sugar or cinnamon to your liking. I always need to add more. If you like your applesauce chunky then stir it up and leave it as is. If you like it smooth you can use an immersible blender. If you don’t have one let it cool a bit and use a blender. Transfer applesauce to jars and that’s it! There are many ways to make applesauce. This is my simple, one afternoon, get it done, and make it delicious version. Anyone can pull this off…
